The Crappie are still biting on Douglas Lake!

There are millions of people that love to fish around the world. Do you know how to fish? Can we eat all the fish we catch? Do you know how to cook your fish?

Fishing is fun and for everybody in the family. You are one step closer to catching a fish by choosing to come to Swann’s Marina. Knowing what lake and where to fish is very important. If you want to catch a crappie, beach your boat near the bridge that is close to the marina.

Crappie are attracted to woody cover regardless of the time of year. You can fish near the bridge, the dock or find a brush pile and let the fish tell you where they are resting. Now, if you can set your hook, you can catch a fish on Douglas Lake. It takes time and patience to hook a fish but you can do it. Once you hook your line, you are ready to play with the fish.

When a fish feels the hook so will you because it will make a run for it. It might jump or swim under the boat and the fun begins but it doesn’t end when you have hooked your fish. It is time to prepare your fish to cook for dinner at the cleaning station at the marina.

We can eat most all the fish that you hook on Douglas Lake. It is more likely to find a poisonous fish in a tropical region. Everyone knows fish are good for you. If you are going to eat your catch of the day, it is best to cook it right away or freeze it. Don’t be afraid to wait to cook your fish at home. Just remember fresh fish will only last a day or two when stored in your ice chest or at home in your refrigerator. Smelling your fish is a good way to know if your fish is still safe to eat.

Look at the fish, it should still be firm and with bright eyes.
